From Idea to Incubation: Completing Sabah Sandbox Accelerator 2026 with Bikin Ingat
How a solo build to fix pharmacy medication refill tracking became a fully validated MVP — and a funding pitch — over ten weeks of incubation.
The Problem
Retail pharmacies lose patients between prescriptions. Not because anyone's careless — because there's no system built to catch someone before they fall through the cracks of a refill cycle. Some pharmacies rely on manual spreadsheet checks. Some rely on nothing at all. I heard both, directly, from pharmacies in Kota Kinabalu.
Bikin Ingat — Malay for "to remind, sincerely" — started as an attempt to close that gap: a B2B Patient Relationship Management (PRM) platform that sits alongside a pharmacy's existing POS/CMS system, not replacing it, and automates WhatsApp and Email reminders based on real refill-cycle data.
Building in Public (Sort Of)
Over the incubation period, the product went from concept to a working MVP:
- A multi-tenant Firebase/Firestore backend, built with pharmacy data isolation as a first-class requirement, not an afterthought
- An AI-generated executive summary layer (Gemini 2.5 Flash) that turns raw refill-risk data into a plain-language report for pharmacy staff — while keeping every underlying metric deterministically computed and independently auditable
- A refill-lead pipeline: patients who cross a risk threshold get flagged, reminded, and handed to staff as an actionable lead — never an autonomous order
None of this happened in a vacuum. Direct interviews with pharmacies shaped almost every product decision — including the biggest one: pharmacies don't want automation to replace the relationship they've built with patients. They want it to protect that relationship from the things that break it, like forgetfulness and inconsistent follow-up.
Sabah Sandbox Accelerator
Bikin Ingat was selected for the Sabah Sandbox Accelerator (SSA) 2026 Incubation Phase, running 4 July – 16 August 2026, organised by the Sabah Creative Economy & Innovation Centre (SCENIC) and Kementerian Pendidikan Sains Teknologi dan Inovasi Sabah (KPSTI). My sincere appreciation to Hexa Partners & Technologies, for conducting the incubation training and coaching.
Ten weeks of building, testing, and refining culminated in a Demo Day investor pitch — covering the product, market validation, financial model, and a funding proposal for the next phase of development.
What's Next
Completing incubation isn't the finish line — it's the point where the real work starts: finding a pilot pharmacy, closing out the founding legal groundwork, and building toward a funded, production-ready launch.
More on that soon.
